Matt Reeves Teases ‘Surprising’ Villain For ‘The Batman Part II’ And New Side Of Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight

Who will be the villain?

Matt Reeves has big plans for The Batman Part II! The director recently teased a surprising villain that will bring out a new side of Robert Pattinson’s hero.

As The Batman Part II slowly drifts back year after year, Matt Reeves has left fans to their own devices when it comes to the next installment in the franchise. Perhaps the biggest discussion point amongst the fandom is what villain Robert Pattinson will face off against in the sequel. Especially coming off the heels of The Penguin, every fan is eagerly advocating for their favorite Gotham reprobate to get their own grounded reinvention.

During a recent appearance at the Golden Globes, Matt Reeves was asked about a wide variety of topics, including a progress update on The Batman Part II and the potential of The Penguin to continue after its initial run. One such villain focused on the villain of the sequel, with Josh Horowitz asking if Reeves had settled on anyone yet. Reeves confirmed that he had, in fact, found the perfect adversary, and believes it’ll be surprising to fans when they throw down with Robert Pattinson.

“Yes, of course, or we’d really be in trouble. I hope [it’s surprising]. I think so. I think that the story is a continuation in a certain way and completely different in another. It’s gonna show a different side to Rob…it’s going to be really cool.”

Who Will Be The Villain Of The Batman Part II?

If you could think of a Batman villain, their name has probably been thrown into the ring to appear in The Batman Part II. An early frontrunner for Robert Pattinson’s next big bad was Clayface, though one more focused on the Golden Age incarnation of the character. Though with the villain getting his own horror film in the DC Universe next year, it’s not likely Matt Reeves has any major plans for the character in his franchise.

Some other major names for who the villain could be include Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, the Court of Owls, and even Calendar Man! Though given Matt Reeves is still finishing the script for The Batman Part II, it’s not likely that fans will know who will be roughing up Robert Pattinson for another few months until production properly picks up.
