Is Oscar Isaac done with the MCU? The director of Moon Knight speaks on Marvel’s current plans for the character to make his return.

Moon Knight made a massive splash into the MCU fandom upon its release. While the series was far from perfect, Oscar Isaac’s standout performance as the hero has left fans begging for more. However, with us now being over two years’ out from the show’s release, there’s been no news about a season 2. According to the show’s director Mohamed Diab, there’s been a similar lack of movement on the backend.

“You never know – with Marvel nothing is called finished,” Diab explained to Deadline in a recent interview. “There could be a film, or he could go into another universe. Right now nothing is in talks but I definitely with Moon Knight, I would love to be involved in anything else and it could happen for sure. I have a great relationship with them.”

It’s a shame to hear that nothing is even in talks regarding Oscar Isaac’s potential return to the MCU. This means that, even if season 2 of Moon Knight is greenlit by Marvel anytime soon, it’ll likely be years before fans see it come to life. It certainly makes sense that such a minor hero would be lower on the studio’s priority list going into a pivotal phase shift. In fact, that may be a key reason movement on a follow-up has been taking so long to be developed.

Why Moon Knight’s Return Is So Delayed

A recent rumor revealed that the reason Marvel keeps delaying Blade so much isn’t just because of the project’s development issues, but rather so their current slate of projects can focus solely on telling multiverse stories. This could explain why a more grounded hero like Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight has yet to make his return to the MCU, as it likely wouldn’t have much or anything to do with their plans for the multiverse saga.

The rumor also states that Marvel has massive plans for Blade in the MCU, spanning across multiple different projects. Perhaps plans for him to appear in Moon Knight season 2 or for Oscar Isaac to appear in a team-up movie before then could explain why development on a follow-up has been so delayed. Though until the project enters development, nothing can truly be said for sure.
