Patrick Stewart seemingly confirmed his return as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The last time we saw Patrick Stewart as Professor X, he died at the hands of Wolverine’s clone in Logan. At the time, it seemed like that was the perfect send-off for Stewart, who has been playing Professor X for over 20 years. However, rumors started circulating ahead of the second trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that Stewart would appear in the upcoming Marvel Studios film.
We then got the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer during the Super Bowl, which offered a glimpse at Patrick Stewart’s Professor X. In the trailer, it appears Professor X will be part of the Illuminati. Stewart previously denied his involvement in the Doctor Strange sequel, but in a recent interview with Jake’s Takes, the X-Men actor all but confirmed his return as Professor X:
“Well, I had my phone turned off as it happened, so I didn’t hear anything. It wasn’t until the next morning when I woke up and looked at my phone and found that I had been bombarded with responses and that my PR people had sent me reactions that they had detailed and passed onto me… I actually didn’t recognize my own voice, it sounded different. Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don’t know. But I was astonished, and all they saw was the back of my shoulder, and I think my earlobe, nothing else. There would have been so many connections made. But, uh, it pleased me.”
Here is the synopsis for the upcoming film:
