Peacemaker is back, baby! John Cena makes his heroic return to the DC Universe in the first teaser for season 2 of his surprise hit series.
Out of any character in the DC Universe’s long, long catalogue, nobody could have guessed that Peacemaker would be the first one to lead a hit series on Max. However, James Gunn’s movie magic and John Cena’s terrific performance turned a D-List anti-hero into one of the greatest vigilantes of all time. The only questions fans had is when season 2 would come out!
While the project was delayed by James Gunn’s other obligations within the DC Universe, Peacemaker season 2 is finally rounding the corner of its release. The first official look at the series was actually unveiled during Max’s second quarter sizzle reel, with Gunn later releasing the section featuring John Cena’s Sentinel of Liberty on his own account. It doesn’t reveal too many new details, but it does give fans some high-flying action from the premiere shot in Austin last year.

When Will Peacemaker Season 2 Come Out?
Alongside the teaser, James Gunn revealed the official release date for Peacemaker season 2. Before, fans only knew the DC Universe series would be releasing sometime in August of this year. Now, fans have an exact date they can expect to see John Cena return to the small screen. That date? August 21st, 2025. Even though it’s near the end of the month, having a solid date is more than enough to hold fans over.
Interestingly, if this release date holds, Peacemaker season 2 should wrap up sometime in early October. If true, it means the DC Universe has left a massive gap in the last quarter of its’ slate. This is especially odd given John Cena’s series will only premiere a month after Superman. Could this mean James Gunn has a secret project planned for the end of this year?
