The Dark Knight returns!

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, Mission: Impossible 7, Fantastic Beasts 3, and other tentpole films are expected to begin filming again in the United Kingdom soon.

The Batman was well into production with several first looks and set pictures revealed before filming was put on hold due to the ongoing pandemic. The Robert Pattinson-led Batman reboot was filming in the United Kingdom with a release date of June 2021 before it was pushed back several months. Fans are eager to hear more news on The Batman at DC FanDome in August, and for the time being, it looks like the film will be shooting once again by that time.

Film productions like Robert Pattinson’s The Batman were given the greenlight to resume production back in May, but filming remained on hold. According to Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden, several guidelines will now be put in place which will allow for films like The Batman, Mission: Impossible 7, Fantastic Beasts 3, Jurassic World: Dominion, and other blockbusters to get back on track. These guidelines include crew members living in a “bubble” environment close to production– similar to what the NBA plans on doing at Disney World. During a press conference, Dowden revealed she spoke with Tom Cruise about the exception of a 14-day quarantine and said the following about the restart:

“The world’s biggest blockbusters and high-end TV shows are made in Britain. Our creativity, expertise and highly successful tax reliefs for our screen industries means that we are an in-demand location that in turn delivers a great return for our economy. We want the industry to bounce back and exempting small numbers of essential cast and crew from quarantine is part of our continued commitment to getting cameras rolling safely again.”

What news on The Batman do you think we will get at DC FanDome if the movie is filming again by that point? Sound-off in the comments section below!

Plot details for The Batman are under wraps but the project will be centered on Robert Pattinson as a younger Caped Crusader, chronicling Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector. The Batman will also feature the hero making use of his detective skills more than what we’ve seen before in previous iterations of the character. The film is also expected to be the first installment to a new trilogy with Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest DC movie news and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
