Deadpool 3 is set to feature the reunion of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with the Mouth. However, a new rumor states that the film will be a true crossover of Fox’s X-Men film series.
Its long been speculated that Deadpool 3 will traverse the multiverse given it will bring Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with rumors stating that the TVA will intercept him and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine due to the time travel shenanigans. A report from Hollywood insider CanWeGetSomeToast teases that multiple members of Fox’s X-Men universe will return in Deadpool 3, similar to how Spider-Man: No Way Home handled its multiversal crossovers.
It’s been long speculated that key X-Men from the Fox universe would return for Deadpool 3, namely due to Halle Berry posting a photo of her with Storm’s trademark silver hair. However, a true Spider-Man: No Way Home-esque multiverse event could mean that this movie will tie directly into Avengers: Secret Wars, priming key mutants like Hugh Jackman to explore the multiverse of the MCU.
Who else is attached to the Deadpool threequel?
The first two Deadpool movies were produced by 20th Century Fox before the studio’s acquisition by The Walt Disney Company. Deadpool 3 is being written as the first movie in the series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 after working with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project. The upcoming Marvel Studios project also marks a reunion between Levy and Hugh Jackman as the two worked together on Real Steel.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing the Deadpool 3 script after penning the first two installments in the series. The Molyneux sisters worked on a previous draft of the project.
