Is the Scarlet Witch actually alive? The fate of Elizabeth Olsen’s beloved heroine seems to have been revealed in a tie-in comic based around the MCU’s TVA.
Marvel’s TVA comic has been one of the biggest oddities to come out in recent years. The MCU has long since left the days of tie-in comics behind, aside from a few single promotional issues. However, as the issues of what appeared to be a totally standalone comic have gone on, it’s become more and more apparent that the project has deep ties to the MCU.
Not only does the TVA comic feature iconic MCU characters such as Mobius and a female Loki variant similar to the one portrayed by Sophia Di Martino on Disney Plus, but it seems to reference explicit events in the MCU. This includes projects like Deadpool and Wolverine and the aforementioned Loki series. This has led many fans to believe that, even if this comic is not explicitly canon to the MCU, it likely rhymes with the plans Marvel has in store for the universe.
Scarlet Witch’s May Still Be Alive In The MCU
The TVA comic has repeatedly mentioned something called “The Madness” spreading through the multiverse, leading many to believe the tie-in comic was leading to some twist about the Scarlet Witch’s apparent death in the film. That speculation seemed to be right on the money, as at the end of issue 3 it’s revealed that the TVA has a version of the heroine in stasis that looks identical to Elizabeth Olsen’s take on the character.

It’s still unclear if the events of this TVA tie-in comic are meant to perfectly intersect with the MCU, or Marvel is simply laying the groundwork for gaps to be filled in when Elizabeth Olsen does finally make her return as the Scarlet Witch. Though with Avengers: Doomsday right around the corner, it’s not likely to be long until the rumor mill starts pumping out both fact and fiction about the heroine’s future in the universe.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
