‘Spider-Man’ Voice Actor Christopher Daniel Barnes Is Down To Join The ‘Spider-Verse’ Sequel

The voice behind Peter Parker in the hit 90s animated series is down to join Sony's Spider-Verse.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series star Christopher Daniel Barnes has revealed he would be up for reprising his role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel from Sony.

Production on Sony’s sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is finally underway at the studio. The sequel is expected to expand on the original 2018 film and feature more Spider-Man characters from across the multi-verse including the Spider-Man from the 1978 Japanese TV show known as Supaidāman. But one wall-crawler fans would be excited to see again is the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man from the iconic 90s animated series.

Barnes, who voiced Peter Parker for all five seasons of the hit Fox Kids cartoon, was asked by It’s Recording Time about reprising his role for the upcoming Spider-Verse sequel when the actor revealed he would very much be “honored” to have the chance.

“That would be great,” Barnes said. “I’ve reprised the role several times in video games … so that would be great. If I could do that again, I’d be honored.”

Since voicing the iconic Marvel hero in Spider-Man: The Animated Series has reprised his role for multiple video games including Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, and most recently in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. But Barnes also thinks that at 47 years old, he’d be more suited to playing an older version of Peter Parker.

“I’m getting kind of old to do it,” the 47-year-old actor added, “but I’d be happy to play an older Spider-Man.”

But what do you think? Would you like to see Barnes voice an older Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Verse sequel? Let us know in the comments below!
