Fans have eagerly been awaiting any news about the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. While production has been put on hold due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, one of the show’s stars David Harbour which characters will be integral to the plot of the season.
Originally set to film in June, Stranger Things season 5 is set to bring the much-beloved Netflix series to a close. While details are being kept tight to the chest, Sheriff Hopper actor David Harbour revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that his character will play a key role in the final season along with Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven, Winona Ryder’s Joyce Byers, Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers, and Finn Wolfhard’s Mike Wheeler.
No Stranger Things fan should be shocked at the names David Harbour listed to be the key cast for the season. The series was always cleaved between the adventures of the kids, led by Mike Wheeler and Eleven, and those of the adults, led by Sheriff Hopper and Joyce Byers, with the two stories being connected by the disappearance of Will Byers. It’s fitting that the final season would reflect this format as a way to honor the show’s humble beginnings.

Details regarding Stranger Things season five are currently being kept under lock and key at Netflix. Jim Hopper actor David Harbour recently mentioned that he is preparing to shoot the season at the same time as Marvel’s Thunderbolts, as both productions are based in Georgia. Both productions are currently on hold due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Stranger Things was created by Matt and Ross Duffer. The two also executive produce the series alongside Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Brian Wright, Cindy Holland, Jessica Mecklenburg, Matt Thunell, Karl Gajdusek, Iain Paterson and Curtis Gwinn.
