Production on season 2 of the critically acclaimed Max series The Last of Us has officially started up. Getting in front of set photos already leaking from the project, HBO has released two stills from the upcoming season. The first shows Pedro Pascal making his return as Joel, with the other showing off Bella Ramsey as Ellie.
These two photos are near-perfect recreations of moments that take place in the second The Last of Us game. It seems the showrunners are staying faithful to the games heading into season 2, which could worry or excite fans depending on who is asked! Luckily, it seems Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are back in usual form as Joel and Ellie.
The Last Of Us Beyond Season 2
With how successful The Last of Us has been for HBO and Max, it makes sense that the executives wouldn’t want season 2 to be the end of the franchise. It seems the showrunners agree, with co-creator Craig Mazin teasing that the show will be on a while. This potentially means the story of the series could go beyond where fans see Joel and Ellie go in the second game.
The second installment of The Last of Us was one of the most controversial games of its generation. This has left many to worry about the direction season 2 will go. Specifically, where the Max series will take Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie. Yet with the tease there may be more to come for the show, HBO may pull a Game of Thrones and completely change the season’s ending. Maybe this time it’ll be for the better!
