A new trailer for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series premiered during its panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Amazon is going all-in on epic fantasy with their latest investment, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Throughout the entire weekend of San Diego Comic-Con, the new series’ presence has been made significant all throughout both the San Diego Convention Center and everywhere outside of the con itself. The series, which will take place thousands of years before The Hobbit, has been subject to both intrigue and concern. While some concern amongst fans based on early footage may be legitimate, others may have their concerns for more unsavory reasons.
Middle Earth still looks cinematic.
Despite the discourse surrounding the series, with parts of the massive fanbase of J.R.R. Tolkein’s Middle Earth polarized even before the first episode premieres, new trailers and footage have showcased the ambitious visuals and further expansion of Middle Earth’s lore onscreen, including its sizable ensemble of new characters. That trend continues with new footage that dropped at San Diego Comic-Con.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power had a special Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, and we got a new trailer that further immerses us into Middle Earth. You can check it out down below:
Here is the synopsis for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power:
This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.
Amazon Studios is producing The Rings of Power in cooperation with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are serving as showrunners and executive producers on the series.
The ensemble for the show consists of Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman.
The series will premiere September 2, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming series, and other news from Comic-Con, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
