Sigourney Weaver is officially headed to the Star Wars universe! The legendary Hollywood actress has confirmed her role in the upcoming Star Wars movie The Mandalorian and Grogu

The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to expand the Star Wars universe on Disney Plus to an even grander scope. And this promise seems to be coming true with the movie’s casting choices. In a recent interview, Sigourney Weaver revealed that she has been locked for a role in the upcoming movie, confirming that she just met with the puppet for Grogu the other day.

“I’m playing a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu [which will be directed by Jon Favreau],” Weaver told Deadline. “I got to meet Grogu for the first time the other day. I’m filming that before I go to London for The Tempest at the end of the year.”

Sigourney Weaver has run the gamut of sci-fi franchises, from Alien to Avatar. Joining the Star Wars universe with The Mandalorian and Grogu seems to be completing the hat trick! It’s currently unclear what role she’ll be playing in the project, be it an ally to the heroes or a villain. Though given her history with shows on Disney Plus, it wouldn’t be shocking for the iconic heroine to take on the role of antagonist!

Everything Fans Know About The Mandalorian And Grogu

Sigourney Weaver isn’t the only new face making their debut in The Mandalorian and Grogu. Footage from this year’s D23 expo confirms that the iconic Zeb from Star Wars Rebels will be jumping from the Disney Plus catalog to the silver screen. Pedro Pascal is also set to return as the titular character, although he’ll likely only come in to voice the character following the end of production on The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is currently filming in London.

Temuera Morrison has also expressed interest in returning as Boba Fett in The Mandalorian and Grogu, with his character having been all but absent from the series following his failed Disney Plus spin-off. Though with production on the film already starting to ramp up, it’s likely Star Wars fans will be finding out about more than just Sigourney Weaver joining the cast in short order.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to land in theaters May 22, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Star Wars universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
