The upcoming adaptation of Dune has been directed by Denis Villeneuve from a script he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth. Dune was first adapted into a feature film in 1984 by director David Lynch. Legendary acquired the film and television rights to Frank Hebert’s classic science fiction novel in 2016 with Villeneuve signing onto the project shortly after.

In addition to the upcoming film adaptation, Villeneuve is also helming the pilot for the Dune: The Sisterhood television series for Warner Bros. as well as serving as an executive producer on the project. A release date for the HBO Max Dune series has yet to be announced. The first official look at images from the film, as well as it’s official logo were revealed just last month.

Dune stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.

A synopsis of Dune reads as follows:

Set in the distant future, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides whose family accepts control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, control of Arrakis is highly contested among the noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s control of Arrakis.

Dune is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2020. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Dune, Timothée Chalamet, and Josh Brolin, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content in the future!
