A new concept design imagines Willem Dafoe appearing in Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker sequel.
Our recent exclusive report states that Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker sequel is eyeing a 2023 start date. An insider with knowledge on the subject says that Warner Bros. has received the first draft for the film. Details are practically unknown regarding what’s next for the franchise, but audiences are hoping to see more than one Joker.
Willem Dafoe has always been a perfect candidate for the Joker. His expressive face and mannerisms have long made him a fan favorite for the iconic Clown Prince of Crime. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. has never offered the role to Dafoe. The Green Goblin actor recently poked fun at the fan casting during Saturday Night Live and even made it clear that he would be open to starring opposite Joaquin Phoenix for the upcoming Joker sequel.
With Willem Dafoe ready to take on a role in the film as a Joker imposter and the Joaquin Phoenix film heading into production, fans are hoping that the dream collab happens. Luckily, artist Jaxson Derr has imagined Dafoe starring in the film. The concept design is absolutely fantastic and imagines exactly what Dafoe would look like as an imposter. Unfortunately, nothing is confirmed as of yet, but here’s hoping DC sees the concept design and calls Dafoe up!
Here is the official synopsis for Joker:
Director Todd Phillips’ “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.
Joker is available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the potential sequel, Willem Dafoe, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
