Fans finally have their first look at Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man! This comes along with the announcement of a prequel comic for the upcoming MCU series.
It’s hard to imagine that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was announced nearly three years again. Since then, Marvel has kept a tight lock on any news about the MCU’s highly-anticipated animated spin-off. So much so that, while a number of promotional images have leaked from trade shows, the studio has kept almost all of it from being released publicly.
That being said, some interesting details have managed to find their way out of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man even without visual references. The series is set to focus on the younger years of Peter Parker as the beloved web-head, and will also introduce a number of fan-favorite characters into the MCU. These include Amadeus Cho, Wave, and a key hero from Marvel team The Runaways.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Gets A Prequel Comic
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is clearly taking visual cues from the original Marvel comics. Which is why it only makes sense that it becomes one of the first shows in the MCU to get a prequel comic. The covers for these comics show off some references to classic Spider-Man comics, along with fans’ first clear look at the art style for the series.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man seems to be following the recent trend of animated shows focusing on bright colors and thick outlines without much detail. It’s a similar style to Marvel’s last attempt at a Spider-Man animated series in 2017. So while it may be disappointing to long-time animation fans, it certainly brings some much needed style to the MCU’s animated line-up.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is currently set to release in Fall 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
