Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man may be canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after all! A new rumor suggests an iconic What If…? character will appear in the series.
The canon of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has always been confusing. Originally pitched as taking place before the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the series is now set in an alternate timeline tangent to Tom Holland’s story, with quite a few details changed for the new setting.
However, it seems Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man isn’t completely detached from the MCU. According to a new rumor by scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, Uatu the Watcher from What If…? is set to appear in the series. No details will be given on how many episodes the character will appear and how big of a role he will play.
Spider-Man Takes Over Animation
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is the latest in a long line of Spider-Man cartoons. However, it seems it may be far from the last project starring the webhead. In the MCU alone, Marvel is seemingly considering reviving the ’90s animated series.
However, the real juicy stuff comes from Sony Pictures. The studio has seemingly courted Seth Rogen to write and produce an R-rated Venom animated movie. Sony is reportedly also trying to make an animated Sinister Six movie following the failure of Madame Web and the live-action Spider-Man villain universe.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is currently set to release in Fall 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
