Zack Snyder is back once again to honor his Justice League film! The director recently released yet another new image of Jared Leto as Joker in the Snyder Cut.
The Snyder Cut of Justice League was truly the white whale of comic book movies. With how often studios distort, change, or outright destroy films, nobody had faith Zack Snyder’s original vision for Justice League would see the light of day. However, after one of the largest fan campaigns in history, it was finally released on Max on March 18, 2021.
With the film coming up on its three year anniversary, Zack Snyder has taken to Vero to post some celebratory images. One is a film roll of his Justice League Snyder Cut in all of its grayscale beauty. The other is of Jared Leto as the Joker holding what appears to be a machine gun in the Knightmare timeline. Both images can be seen below.
This isn’t the first time that Zack Snyder has shared a new image of Jared Leto’s Joker. It almost seems like fans have seen more of the character on Vero than in the actual Snyder Cut! It’s clear the director had big plans for his character beyond the first Justice League movie, though those plans will sadly never see the light of day.
The Snyderverse Is Over…Or Is It?
Zack Snyder has been very open that, while he’s stepping away from the DC Universe for the time being, he would be open to revisiting his Snyderverse if the opportunity arose. These comments have given fans of the Snyder Cut hope that his full vision for a Justice League trilogy could come to light.
The golden goose Snyder Cut fans have their eyes on is Netflix. Zack Snyder has found a new home on the streaming service, with the studio producing his two newest projects in Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead. Snyder has expressed interest in continuing his Justice League trilogy there if he was allowed. However, given the rights nightmare that would be, it’s not likely to come to fruition.
The other avenue to continue the Snyderverse could be in DC Comics itself. There’s been rumblings for years that Zack Snyder would be interested in continuing his Justice League trilogy as a graphic novel. Apparently the company even began to approach writers for the prospect before the Snyder Cut was originally released!
Though for now it seems the rumors are true: The Snyderverse is over. It’s possible Zack Snyder will see his vision come to life in the future. But for now, it may be best to just celebrate the accomplishment that the Snyder Cut has even seen the light of day. At the very least, it means one good Justice League movie finally exists!
