Could Andrew Garfield still return as Spider-Man? The actor reveals the one thing it’d take to get him to pick up the spandex one more time.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will go down as one of the biggest events in comic book nerd history. Getting, not just two Spider-Man actors, but all three that portrayed the character on the silver screen, together for one film is a moment that will likely never be replicated. Though that doesn’t mean fans have stopped hoping for Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire to return once more.
While Toby Maguire has mostly been silent on the issue, Andrew Garfield has been very open about how much he loves Spider-Man and what it would take to bring him back. Now, it seems the actor is more receptive than ever to the idea of making a return. During an appearance at Middle East Comic Con, Garfield revealed that he’d be more than happy to play the character again, as long as it was something weird.
“I would love to play the character again in some capacity,” Garfield explained “But I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange, I would want to do something very unique, and offbeat and surprising.”
Will Andrew Garfield Return As Spider-Man?
While there’s been no official news about Andrew Garfield making his return as the web-head, the sheer success of Spider-Man: No Way Home means that conversations are almost certainly happening behind the scenes. And while Avengers: Secret Wars would be the most likely place for him to reprise his role as Spider-Man, it’s not the only place.
The actor briefly reprised his role in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, possibly suggesting an expanded role in the upcoming sequel. Additionally, even though Sony has discontinued their villain universe, nothing is stopping them from making another film with Spider-Man rogues to facilitate Andrew Garfield’s return as the character. Though if any of these come to pass, it’ll likely be quite some time until fans hear about them.
