The DC Universe seems to be in very good hands with James Gunn! Creature Commandos has landed a highly-coveted perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Creature Commandos is one of the most highly-anticipated projects coming out this holiday season. The series was a passion-project by James Gunn that he took on after The Suicide Squad, which is now set to be the first project to take place in the new DC Universe. This left many fans hopeful that a good reception could be a good omen for the franchise going forward.
Yet it seems Creature Commandos wasn’t just good, it was perfect. The series debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with an astonishing 100%. This is a level rarely reached by any show, let alone one based on an obscure comic book team. While James Gunn has received high marks in the past, this also marks a career high as his best received project yet.
The Future Of Creature Commandos
Many viewed Creature Commandos as a one-and-done series due to James Gunn’s new position as the public head of the DC Universe. The director will likely have his hands full with Superman and Peacemaker, as well as any other projects that catch his eye. However, with a nearly-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, there’s certainly going to be interest from fans for the show to continue.
Dean Lorey, who serves as the showrunner for Creature Commandos, revealed that there are certainly routes that could be taken if the show gets a season 2. Given fans still don’t know which characters will even survive James Gunn’s weird war, speculation about their future in the DC Universe to be moot. However, for whoever survives, their future is certainly looking bright.
