Fans have been wondering where they’ll be seeing Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange next after the shocking ending of Multiverse of Madness. The actor confirms he’ll be filming his MCU return in 2024.
Benedict Cumberbatch was recently featured on an episode of the JW3 Speaker Series with Nick Hackworth. During the talk, Cumberbatch revealed he’s set to return as Doctor Strange for another “Marvel Caper” that’s set to film next year.
Given the ongoing WGA writer’s strike, it’s unlikely any progress has been made on Doctor Strange 3. At least, not enough for it to be ready to film. It’s possible an appearance in Blade is on the table to set up the highly-rumored Midnight Sons project. Another possibility is he’ll appear in the upcoming Vision Quest series, given his close relation to the Scarlet Witch. Though with the Multiverse in play, truly anything is a possibility.
The cast and storyline of the Doctor Strange sequel
Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg and Rachel McAdams.
The official synopsis for the Doctor Strange sequel reads as follows: “The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. It’s also streaming exclusively on Disney Plus.
