Elizabeth Olsen Confirms The Scarlet Witch Is Dead In The MCU, But Still Hopes For A Return

Is Elizabeth Olsen done with Marvel?

Is the Scarlet Witch gone for good? Elizabeth Olsen speaks on a potential return to the MCU after her character’s tragic death.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will go down as one of the most controversial films in the MCU, in no small part due to how it treated Elizabeth Olsen’s iconic character. Fans have held out hope that the Scarlet Witch may have survived the film’s events, potentially allowing Olsen to return. Yet Olsen herself confirmed that Wanda Maximoff is dead, even if she too is hoping for some way to come back to the role in the future.

“I think so. I assume as much. Yeah, and there was a red light of explosive energy. I think I’m dead,” Olsen told Jimmy Kimmel in a recent appearance on his talk show. “I would beg to leave a window open. I had so much fun doing these movies. I would like to figure out how to cleverly be undead. We need to find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense. I’m open to ideas.”

Of course, any comic fan worth their salt knows that death is never permanent. It wouldn’t be hard for Marvel to figure out a way to bring her back into the MCU, especially with the multiverse. However, given how openly Elizabeth Olsen has been talking about her time as the Scarlet Witch, and how close Agatha All Along is to release, fans may not have to wait long to see her return as the beloved Wanda Maximoff.

Where Elizabeth Olsen Could Return In The MCU

While Agatha All Along is the obvious place for Elizabeth Olsen to return as the Scarlet Witch, it’s far from the only MCU production in which she could appear. The studio is developing another sister series to Wandavision with Vision. Given the show follows Wanda Maximoff’s partner attempting to regain his memories, it’s more likely than not that the actress makes a brief appearance in the show. However, rumors suggest it may not be as who fans expect.

Though if one were to look to the comics, one surprising MCU project stands as a place she could return: Wonder Man. In the comics, Wanda Maximoff has a very close connection with series lead Simon Williams, with him being the source of Vision’s brainwaves. It’s possible he could be the key to the Scarlet Witch’s return, especially with how little fans have heard about the project since it paused production earlier this year due to the death of a crew member.

Agatha All Along is set to release on Disney Plus on September 18, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
