Ezra Miller’s DC Universe future as The Flash is looking promising.

Variety has revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery executives are open to the idea of keeping Ezra Miller as The Flash for future DC Universe projects. James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently working on a multi-year plan for the DC Universe, which insiders describe as a “broad but not blanket reset,” meaning that Miller could stay on as Barry Allen after the release of The Flash.

Warner Bros. recently moved up the release of The Flash to June 16, 2023. The movie is now hitting theaters one week after Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and two weeks before Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. It’s one of the final DC Comics movies arriving before James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU plans become a reality.

A recent report revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery already has a script for a potential sequel to The Flash, written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the man behind the two Aquaman movies starring Jason Momoa. However, Ezra Miller has been making headlines over a string of arrests and criminal charges. The actor is seeking treatment for mental health issues.

Per Variety, Ezra Miller has stayed out of trouble after starting mental health treatment. Miller’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed by Warner Bros. Discovery executives, who almost fired the actor from the DC Universe after the troubling headlines started making the rounds on the internet.

Who else is attached to the Flash movie?

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash is inspired by the Flashpoint comic book storyline, which followed Barry Allen as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles.

In addition to Ezra Miller, The Flash also features Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two separate versions of Batman, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Rudy Mancuso and Luke Brandon Field are also on board in undisclosed roles.
