Is Nicolas Cage officially back as Ghost Rider? The actor may make his return in the MCU sooner than fans think thanks to the latest rumor.

Fans have been begging for over a decade for Ghost Rider to appear in the MCU in some form or another. While the Robbie Reyes version of the character did appear for a short stint in Agents of S.H.I.E.LD., it has been nearly 15 years since the Spirit of Vengeance has been seen on the silver screen, with his last appearance being the sequel to Nicolas Cage’s controversial take on the anti-hero. But with the MCU leaning more into its darker side, fans have had some hope for his return in the coming years.

It seems the character will return, just not in the way fans may have expected. According to a new rumor from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus, Nicolas Cage is officially set to return as Ghost Rider in a future MCU project. The only details about which were that Cage won’t appear in Avengers: Doomsday. While there are certainly plenty of projects between it and the end of the Multiverse Saga, this most likely means that Cage will appear as the Spirit of Vengeance in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Who Will Play Ghost Rider In The MCU?

However, it seems that Nicolas Cage won’t be the only Ghost Rider in the MCU. Alex Perez did seemingly hear another rumor about Marvel’s plans for the character following Cage’s return. While the scooper admitted that they didn’t have much information, they did say that the character will “likely be an agent of Mephisto” before breaking from the demon and setting off on his own journey.

Given the speculation that Spider-Man 4 will be a loose adaptation of One More Day, a story where Spider-Man makes a deal with Mephisto to bring his Aunt May back to life, it’s possible that Ghost Rider will appear in the upcoming sequel before Nicolas Cage makes his return. As for who will play the iconic rider in the MCU, signs seem to point to Ryan Gosling taking up the chain as the beloved Spirit of Vengeance.

There is currently no word on an official Ghost Rider project in the MCU. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
