James Gunn Reveals Whether Harry Styles’ Eros Appears In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’

Is Starfox about to meet the Guardians?

Harry Styles Eros Eternals Starfox

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn has responded to rumors that Harry Styles’ Eros is set to return in the upcoming MCU film.

Attendees of Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con presentation were treated to an early glimpse of James Gunn’s third Guardians of the Galaxy film, as well as announcements regarding a host of other upcoming Marvel projects.

After the presentation, Kevin Feige mentioned in an interview that Marvel still had plans for Harry Styles’ Eros and Pip the Troll. Some fans have speculated that, with Eros and Pip belonging to Marvel’s cosmic realm, the characters might show up in the Guardians franchise.

When Is Starfox Returning

Eros, also going by the moniker of Starfox in Marvel comics, may be showing up again soon in the MCU, but it will not be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn has confirmed.

While discussing the upcoming third installment in the Guardians’ story during an interview with Extra TV, James Gunn laid the latest Eros rumors to rest. When he was asked whether Starfox might be appearing in Vol. 3, Gunn very quickly debunked the rumor:

“Nope… I’m setting the record straight! Starfox doesn’t pop up. Nope!”

While it’s easy to see how a spacefaring Eternal like Starfox might bump into the Guardians of the Galaxy in their travels, it looks like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is probably packed enough. The film will see Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill coping with the loss of Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, will introduce Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock and have the Guardians face off with Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary.

Harry Styles made his surprising MCU debut as Eros in a post-credits scene in last year’s Eternals. The character appeared alongside the CGI Pip the Troll, voiced by Patton Oswalt, and was confirmed to be the brother of the MCU’s last big bad, Thanos.

Here is the synopsis for Eternals:

The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.

Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.

Eternals is available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD and also to stream on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of Harry Styles’ Eros in the MCU, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
