Peacemaker is celebrating in style! James Gunn reveals a new image from season 2 of the series to celebrate the birthday of the show’s star John Cena.
For a while, the idea of a “wrestler turned actor” was basically a bad word. Now, the select group has become some of the most respected figures in the industry. One of the biggest names to thank is John Cena, who has become a tour de force in action comedies. This is in no small part thanks to his collaborations with James Gunn in multiple projects as the Peacemaker character.
This has left fans starving for any news on Peacemaker as season 2 sets its release date for later this year. James Gunn has been rather stingy with the information he’s put out regarding John Cena’s return to the DC Universe. Yet it seems that that the one thing to spur him to promote the series is actually a birthday, with him posting a new image from the project to celebrate Cena’s special day.

When Will Peacemaker Come Back?
Officially, John Cena will reprise his role as Peacemaker this fall when season 2 of his titular series appears on Max. However, it’s possible that James Gunn managed to sneak a cameo of everyone’s favorite vigilante into Superman, especially given how much beef the character had with the Man of Steel in the first season. Though, currently, it’s not confirmed anyone from the series will appear in the long-awaited film.
Outside of season 2, there are plenty of places for John Cena to appear as Peacemaker. It would be shocking if the character doesn’t make some sort of cameo in season 2 of Creature Commandos, especially given James Gunn helms both shows. It’s also unclear if the series will be renewed for a third outing, especially given how much the director has on his plate with the reboot.
