Is Martian Manhunter coming to the DC Universe? James Gunn teases the beloved Justice League member’s role in the upcoming reboot.
It’s clear that James Gunn is having a ton of fun crafting his reboot of the DC Universe. Set photos from Superman tease that the world is much bigger than fans might expect, including a sly easter egg referencing one of Batman’s Robins. However, the caped crusader may not be the only Justice League member that already exists in this new universe.
Following a thread detailing fun moments that a fan would like to see adapted in the new DC Universe, James Gunn shared a photo showing off what the Chocos brand of cookies will look like in the upcoming reboot. These cookies are infamously a favorite of Justice League member Martian Manhunter, who has a chemical addiction to them due to his martian physiology.
Where Could Martian Manhunter Appear In The DC Universe?
While it’s likely these Chocos are just a fun piece of set dressing for the Superman or Peacemaker sets, it wouldn’t be out of character for James Gunn to tease the Justice League member prior to his debut. There’s currently only a handful of projects in production for this reboot, leaving options limited when it comes to where Martian Manhunter could show up in the DC Universe.
However, the best bet if this is James Gunn teasing Martian Manhunter’s appearance in the DC Universe is the Booster Gold series. It’s one of the few projects in the reboot that may already have begun casting, and Booster Gold was the catalyst for Martian Manhunter’s infamous Chocos bloodlust in the pages of a Justice League International comic.
