The Spirit of Vengeance is taking a ride on the rumor mill! Marvel reportedly has big fans for Ghost Rider in the very near future of the MCU.
Despite the wavering quality of many of their projects in recent years, Marvel has gone hard in introducing their remaining heavy hitters into the MCU with the Multiverse Saga: Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and Blade (albeit the last one hasn’t came to pass just yet). However, one notable face has been entirely absent despite fans pleading for years for the character to get a new film. That of course being the Spirit of Vengeance himself, aka Ghost Rider.
For a time in the 90s, Ghost Rider was considered a marquee character for Marvel comics. The Spirit of Vengeance exemplified everything readers loved about comics at the increasingly edgy industry: Hell, skulls, and a whole lot of leather. Yet after a duology starring Nicholas Cage that crashed and burned, and a small role in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series, Marvel has mostly ignored the character in the MCU.
When Will Ghost Rider Appear In The MCU?
Marvel’s Ghost Rider drought may finally be coming to an end. According to a rumor from insider DanielRPK, the Spirit of Vengeance is set to appear in “multiple” MCU projects over the next few years. While Marvel has not cast the character yet, such a tight window for the character to appear likely means that the studio is actively in the process of finding their star.
Assuming Marvel wouldn’t have their new Ghost Rider actor make their MCU debut in Avengers: Secret Wars, there’s only a handful of known projects where the character would fit. This includes the long-delayed Blade film, and the long-rumored Midnight Suns. Moon Knight season 2 could also be a good fit, yet with no news on a renewal it’s unclear if it will come to pass.
There is currently no word on an official Ghost Rider production in the MCU. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
