Marta Milans has confirmed the return of Mama Rosa Vasquez in the upcoming Shazam! sequel from Warner Bros. and DC Films.
Milans made her debut in the DC extended universe in 2019’s Shazam! as the foster mother to Billy Batson (Asher Angel). Although it is unclear as to when production on the sequel will get underway due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the actress confirmed her return to LRM Online for the project which was originally being planned for a 2020 start.
“Honestly, I was talking to our writers and told them to do whatever they want. But, make sure that Mama Rosa has her own cape, and she can fly. I really want to fly in the sequel,” said Milans. “I don’t know if they’ll listen to me. I don’t know if they’ll listen to me. I don’t know if they’ll give me a cape, but Mama Rosa will be present.”
While plot details remain under wraps, Shazam! star Zachary Levi revealed his hopes for the upcoming sequel back in May. Despite productions being put on hold in wake of the global health crisis, Levi is still getting in shape to be ready for production on the project.
Here is the official synopsis for the first Shazam! film:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, the film stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Marta Milans and the Shazam! sequel as we learn it. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content in the future!
