Spider-Man 4 Rumor Teases Symbiote Storyline For Tom Holland’s Marvel Hero

Production is being eyed to start in the fall

The end of Spider-Man: No Way Home revealed the symbiote at the end of the movie and if the latest rumor is to be believed, that symbiote will be a major plot point in the untitled Spider-Man 4.

With production being eyed to start in the fall for a possible 2025 release date, scooper Daniel RPK revealed that the fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man film will involve the symbiote that was left behind by Eddie Brock in the film. The symbiote is the small black blob left behind on the bar counter, and it moves just before the camera cuts to black.

Should the rumor pan out to be true, it will be interesting to see how the Symbiote’s presence impacts Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, who now finds himself navigating life alone following the events of No Way Home.

In a recent Deadline interview, Sony Pictures Boss Tom Rothman had the following to see about the movie: “Let me tell you, when the last of the Spider-Verse movies comes with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it’s going to be a significant event, as will the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film… For those fans, that’s going to be a significant moment. We have those. The third and last Venom is going to be huge.”

Spider-Man 4 currently doesn’t have a director, the series previous director Jon Watts had some advice for his next successor.

Following the fantastic Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jon Watts decided to step away from the MCU and let someone else take the reigns for Spider-Man 4. According to Watts, it’s a waste of time to do practical web swinging.

“I have a very practical bit of Spider-Man advice, and I think every Spider-Man director goes through it,” Watts said to Collider. “It doesn’t look good when someone is just swinging on a rope. You think you’re gonna go in there, you’re like, ‘We’re gonna do it all practical. We’re gonna get a stuntman. We’re gonna be swinging around.’”

“It’s boring. It looks dumb. It looks like a monkey swinging on a vine when you put someone on just a rope. Don’t waste your time. That’s my advice to the next Spider-Man director.”

Marvel’s Potential Directors For Spider-Man 4

While many may object to Marvel letting anyone but Jon Watts handle Spider-Man 4 for the MCU, current reports suggest there are quite a few strong contenders. Justin Lin and Drew Goddard were said to be early frontrunners. However, with Goddard now attached to a sequel to The Matrix and Justin Lin’s One Punch Man movie landing a new writer, both may have their schedules packed.

However, the biggest name in the bushel is by far Sam Raimi. Rumors suggest Marvel is already in talks with the director to helm Spider-Man 4 for the MCU. While perhaps a strange pick in the eyes of some fans, getting the director who made some of the best superhero movies of the early 2000s may be Marvel’s only choice in following up Jon Watts’ Spider-Man 4.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future.
