Could The Fantastic Four be growing to five? A new rumor teased developments for the MCU reboot, including when the project will begin filming.
The Fantastic Four has become the white whale of the MCU fandom. Fans are obsessed with it even though they’ve only gotten a small look, and they’ll stop at nothing to get more information. With the reboot’s cast officially confirmed, fans have now started to wonder when Marvel still start filming the movie.
Given Superman is set to come out the same month and is already well underway filming, fans expected that Marvel may be taking a similar approach. However, according to scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, the reboot won’t begin filming until sometime this August.
Marvel’s First Family Gets A Bit Bigger
The production start date isn’t the only piece of info revealed by CanWeGetSomeToast. According to the scooper, The Fantastic Four reboot will expand Marvel’s first family by introducing Franklin Richards, making the MCU incarnation of the team the first time the character has been seen in live-action media.
In the comics, Franklin Richards is the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, as well as one of the most powerful reality warpers in the Marvel universe. Both him and his sister, Valeria, have been mainstays in The Fantastic Four comics since the 60s.
It’s unclear what direction the MCU will take with Franklin Richards (and potentially Valeria). It’s certain they’ll be kids in the reboot, though how young is up to speculation, from being newborns to tweenagers. All that is known is that this news continues to confirm that The Fantastic Four will be a new take on the team that Marvel fans have yet to see on the big screen.
