Could Spider-Man 4 be coming sooner than fans expect? A new rumor reveals when filming will begin on the Tom Holland-led sequel.
Now almost three years out from Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel fans are getting antsy for Tom Holland’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Luckily, it seems they won’t have to wait much longer. A new rumor by reliable insider DanielRPK suggests that the sequel is looking to start filming in September of this year, potentially allowing the project to be released as early as late 2025.
The catch? Marvel is still looking for a director for Tom Holland’s sequel, with Jon Watts seemingly departing from Spider-Man 4 to pursue other projects. No names are currently written in ink, but rumors suggest both Drew Goddard and Justin Lin are in talks to helm the MCU project. Given Goddard just penned a deal to direct the next Matrix film, he may be out of the running.
Marvel’s Other Spider-Man 4
Tom Holland may not be the only actor receiving a Spider-Man 4. While Marvel is focused on continuing one of the MCU’s most successful franchises, Kevin Feige’s eyes may also be set on bringing back one of its most iconic trilogies. According to recent reports by Sandman actor Thomas Haden-Church, talks have been happening behind the scenes to bring Tobey Maguire back and continue his trilogy.
This doesn’t mean the project is guaranteed to come to light. It’s important to note that director Sam Raimi has heard nothing about returning for Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire, even though he loved seeing him in the suit once more with Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Though given the MCU’s focus on the multiverse, this may be Marvel’s only chance to continue such a beloved series of films.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
