There’s no bad blood between Superman actors! Tyler Hoechlin gives his thoughts on David Corenswet’s upcoming role in the DC Universe reboot.

The DC Universe is truly entering a new era. This is exemplified perfectly by the current state of Superman as an IP. The CW’s Arrowverse officially came to a close at the end of last year with the finale of Superman & Lois, with Tyler Hoechlin hanging up his cape as the Man of Steel at the end of an emotional journey. In contrast, David Corenswet is only just getting started as the beloved hero, taking his first flight as the Blue Boy Scout later this year.

This has led many to wonder how Tyler Hoechlin feels about his time as Superman, seemingly, coming to an end in order to support a new take on the DC Universe. This follows Hoechlin’s Superman & Lois co-star Elizabeth Tulloch sending her best wishes to Rachel Brosnahan in taking on the role of Lois Lane and fellow Superman actor Brandon Routh giving his advice to David Corenswet about what it means to put on the cape.

Tyler Hoechlin Speaks On David Corenswet’s Superman

Tyler Hoechlin finally broke his silence during a chat with Screen Rant. And luckily, it seems that the actor couldn’t be happier with David Corenswet taking up the role. Not only is he excited to pass the torch to a new era of actors in the DC Universe, but he has hope that the project will surpass all expectations to be one of the best to release next year.

“I’m excited because, in a weird way, I’ve always [been] looking forward to the experience I was going to have with this character. It originally was going to be two episodes that somehow turned into four, and then seven, and then eight years. I’ve always been excited about whenever that day comes to pass the baton, and so I’m so looking forward to see what they’re going to do with it.”

“I think they’re great. I’m [a] huge, huge Guardians [of the Galaxy] fan, so I can’t wait to see what James has done with it. David [Corenswet] sent me a really nice note before they started shooting. He’s a very, very classy guy, so I wish him and Rachel and Nick and everybody there the best. And for the fans too! I just hope it’s the best movie of the year.”

One of the most prevalent attitudes when it comes to discussing David Corenswet’s Superman online is to pit him against former actors that have taken up the role. But as proved by Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh, the Superman mantle isn’t one confined to a single set of tights. It’s a big DC Universe, and it’s certainly big enough to fit everyone inside.

Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
