Keanu Reeves Debuts First ‘John Wick 4’ Trailer At Comic-Con

Baba Yaga indeed.

Keanu Reeves John Wick 4: Chapter 4 Keanu Reeves John Wick The Matrix Marvel Cinematic Universe MCU Comic-Con

Keanu Reeves debuted the first trailer for John Wick 4 at San Diego Comic-Con.

On Friday July 22, 2022, Collider’s editor-in-chief Steve Weintraub moderated a Comic-Con Hall H panel discussion featuring directors Tim Miller (Deadpool), Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo), and Chad Stahelski (John Wick). Towards the end of the panel, Weintraub called on a surprise question from a “fan” named “J. Utah” who of course turned out to be Keanu Reeves. It was in that moment in which Reeves and Stahelski debuted the first look at John Wick 4 for attendees.

Keanu Reeves knows how to excite a crowd.

I had the opportunity to attend this Comic-Con panel, which was an entertaining discussion amongst Tim Miller, Andrew Stanton, and Chad Stahelski. While that was certainly entertaining, Steve Weintraub teased that the attendees at this panel would be leaving quite excited, and the opportunity to debut the new trailer at Hall H with Keanu Reeves present was a home run. With the loud speakers and big screens, the crowd was energetic with excitement seeing the first footage for John Wick 4.

While the action in this Comic-Con footage for John Wick 4 is expectedly visceral and visually stimulating, perhaps the coolest moment involves The Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) with John Wick’s suit in hand, asking if he’s ready. In pure Keanu Reeves fashion, he responds with a simple, “Yeah.” It’s honestly insane how Reeves can deliver one word with such charisma and conviction. This character truly is the Baba Yaga.

Here is the synopsis for the previous film, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

Directed by Chad Stahelski from a script written by Derek Kolstad, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston, and Boban Marjanovic.

John Wick 4 hits theaters on March 24, 2023. Be sure to continue following us for all the latest news on Keanu Reeves’ upcoming film, as well as some of the exciting news coming out of San Diego Comic-Con, and be sure to  subscribe to our YouTube channel for more original video content!
