Avengers: Endgame directors the Russo Brothers share their thoughts on Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Ever since these two comic book companies emerged, a rivalry between Marvel and DC was always something that was brought up, particularly within the passionate fanbases of both. Of course, there is some overlap of fans among both companies, but particularly in the Heroic Age of Hollywood in which superhero films and TV are dominating the industry, the debate rages on. However, that does not stop people like Avengers: Endgame directors the Russo Brothers from checking out something like Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Anthony and Joe Russo, both of whom served as the directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame are currently promoting their newest film, The Gray Man for Netflix. The Russo Brothers participated in a WIRED Autocomplete interview, in which the search-engine asked what if they directed Justice League. The duo answered with the following:
Anthony Russo: I don’t know how to answer that. See the Snyder Cut. That’s the definitive cut.
Joe Russo: Yeah, you don’t need to see anything else.
The Russo Brothers Endorse The Snyder Cut
It’s refreshing to see the directors of Marvel Studios’ most-successful Avengers films praise The Snyder Cut. Given that debates among fans of both Marvel and DC are rampant online, to see some good will between the Russo Brothers and Snyder is encouraging for fans to give the rival brand’s stories and characters a chance.
Here is the synopsis for The Snyder Cut:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut is available to stream on HBO Max. Meanwhile, The Russo Brothers’ new film The Gray Man is now playing in select theaters and will premiere on Netflix on July 22, 2022.
