A Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness producer discussed MCU theories regarding Professor X and the Illuminati.

Following the release of the latest trailer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, MCU fans obsessed over some of the exciting details that were shown in the newest look at Sam Raimi’s epic sequel to the 2016 film by Scott Derrickson. The trailer was notable for its showcase of the Multiverse being unleashed, along with teases of what appears to be the Illuminati and one of its most intriguing potential members: Professor X.

Producer Richie Palmer was interviewed by Empire Magazine about the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange sequel, and naturally, he was asked about the potential appearance of Professor X and the rest of the Illuminati. In regards to these MCU fan theories (one of which, Patrick Stewart seemingly teased recently), here’s what he had to say:

“I’ll quote the first X-Men movie and say, ‘Are you sure you saw what you saw?’ There are infinite versions of these characters, and just because you may have heard something familiar doesn’t mean it’s someone you have seen before.”

Richie Palmer explained that fans should understand that some rumors are just rumors, citing the recent Spider-Man: No Way Home as an example of rumors run amok:

“As you saw in Spider-Man: No Way Home, some rumors ended up being true, some did not. I would love to see Tony again, but some rumours are just rumours. I will say that I love the Illuminati. But if we ever introduce the Illuminati in the future, it might be more MCU-driven and have some more ties to our characters in the MCU, versus just replicating what’s in the comics.”

It’s only a matter of time before we see any MCU fan theories confirmed or debunked regarding Professor X and the Illuminati. In the meantime, fans should stay put for the next two months when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness finally opens in theaters this summer.
